I can't get my 2006 Saturn vue to start

Asked by GuruDBVTG3 Nov 20, 2024 at 07:19 PM about the 2006 Saturn VUE Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2006 Saturn vue 2.2 liter 5 speed
suddenly stopped running when
checking obd.I realized that my ecu
was not communicating with other
components, i replaced the ECU
underneath the hood up with a used,
ecU from the same vehicle. Same year,
the part numbers were identical.
However, it did not work. I took it to a
shop. They had it for 2 months and
we're unable to figure it out.I've  heard
something about having the ecu
flashed, also I have just l realized there
is an ECU on the passenger's side
underneath. The  dash should that
have been changed out with the same
car that I got. The other used. Ecu,
from what can be done?, I have no idea
where to go from here

Saturn is a dead make, Dealers have most likely sold off the old equipment for Saturn's so a flash from a dealer is probably not going to happen. Both the ECM and the BCM need to be flashed to match the vehicles VIN. I wish you luck in your search.

Oh boy, you are talking about the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) and the BCM (Body Control Module). Both need to be flashed (programmed) to your specific vehicle using your VIN. These computers are not plug and play. Buying used computers is a waste of money since they will not work. My advice is put the original computers back in and begin at the beginning. You need spark, fuel, and compression for the engine to run. Spray a little starting fluid down the throttle body. It should run a few seconds on that. If it does you have a fuel problem. Possibly the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, or the fuel injectors not spraying. If it won't run at all on the starting fluid you either have a no spark problem or no compression. If you have no compression the timing chain or belt, whichever you have, is broken or jumped and the vehicle is probably not worth fixing. Jim

Just reread your question and realized you said OBD I. This is an OBD II vehicle. 1996 and newer models are OBD II. 1981 through 1994 models are OBD I. 1995 could be either. Jim
