should transmission be shifting in and out at 55 mph ?

looking at a 2006 vue and when i drove it it seems like at 55mph it cant decide  
what gear to be in overdrive or not , is this normal ?

Sounds like you disengaged your Overdrive "OD"

is this something i need to be worried about or have a transmission shop look at? Cant decide to purchase this suv or not, just not that fimilar with saturn. Are you talking about an OD switch that i need to turn on or off?

You may need it looked at if the OD switch is on and it does it

I've just inherited my dads 2006 Saturn Relay mini- van and it does the same thing. Without any real load on the engine it will downshift and upshift a couple hundred RPM on tach. When on the freeway. I've also noticed the headlights and dash lights flicker when you step down on gas to climb a hill. Like when RPM goes up moderately not flooring it this flickering happens. Maybe related problem.
