Question type: Maintenance & Repair
IT WAS SO BAD INSIDE THE CAB THAT IT GAVE ME HEADACHES. I
REPLACED THE GAS CAP AND OW IT IS STRONG ON THE RIGHT SIDE
OF THE CAR AND AROUND THE HOOD. I CAN'T DRIVE WITH THE
WINDOWS DOWN FOR THE INTENSITY OF THE FUMES.

That is a major leak and needs to be take care of ASAP! All it would take is someone throwing a lit cigarette butt by the fumes and there you go, car on fire! Anything could set it off, just be careful, do not park it in a garage until it is fixed.
The exhaust system could even set it off. Shouldn't be driving it. Should have the car towed to a shop for repair.
WHERE IS THE LEAK? MECHANIC CANT FIND IT. SAYS HE HAS TO DROP THE GAS TANK TO LOOK FOR IT?
Have him check out the EVAP system, the canister has a filter in it that could be saturated. Also he should be able to go threw the access panel to take a look on top of the gas tank without dropping it.
THE LEAK TURNED OUT TO BE IN THE ASSEMBLY ON TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP. CRACKED PLASTIC. NOW THE CAR IS HARD SHIFTING AND THE PRESSURE SOLENOID IS THE LIKELY SUSPECT. THIS REPAIR WILL COST MORE THAN TWICE WHAT THE FUEL PUMP DID! A $1200 CAR REPAIR MONTH FOR ME!
