the only way the newer GM stuff can be towed on the ground is if it has the 6sp. automatic transmission- then it has a pump that circulates transmission fluid while you are pulling it so it doesn't burn up. Your vehicle doesn't have that, so you need to tow it with all 4 wheels off the ground on a trailer.
Well well, finally I find the answer to why can you tow a 08 Vue XR 3.6 with all the wheels on the ground. An internal pump in the rear of the transaxle assembly that turns with the axles (wheels). Apparently the 08 six speed (6T75E) needs to stop and start the engine for five minutes (maybe to refill the torque converter or to keep the trans from over filling while the wheels turn due to converter drain down). What do you think Richard is this correct? Also, how many guys out there say "front pump" when talking about an automatic trans, but, don't know why "front" is in the meaning??? A long time ago just about all automatics had rear pumps (so you could tow the vehicle without burning it up, plus push start it too) plus the main pump in the front of the transmission therefor rear pump, front pump. Then the manufactures decided to eliminate the rear pump (about 1966) but the words "front pump" stuck and continued on. In the early to mid 2000's the rear pump has started to come back and just for the original reasons too, well mostly towing. I'll have to check if you can push start the new transmissions with a rear pump, I'll bet you can't, they're only used to lubricate the clutches with the engine off and the wheels turning.
