where is the transmission cooler

they come from the factory with the concealed tranny cooler in the radiator..they do not have a seperate one. i imagine it'd be easy to install one by just re routing the lines but i think it would be pointless. and as far as adding a temp gage, and topping off the fluid. the fluid is filled and comes set from the factory, hardly any of the new chryslers have tranny dip sticks. they're loaded with 100K+ mile fluid and sent on their way...however the computer will moniter the tranny temp and fluid levels on its own and give you a warning light if it was ever over heating or low. hope this helps

As far as the dipstick goes, I noticed that Jeep still installs a tube, so the techs at dealers have a dipstick they use to check the fluid on every Jeep that comes in. Go to your dealer and ask about purchasing on from the parts dept. or ask one of their mechanics for a tool company that makes them. Usually OTC makes a lot of parts like that, especially for M-Benz.

okay...an external transmission cooler IS NOT POINTLESS. 90% of transmission failures are due to over heating. If you have one, then it will be located in front of the radiator and ac condenser. You should be able to see it right behind your grill. temp gauge isn't completely necessary unless you are towing a metric ton through the mountains or stop and go traffic for long periods. Your cooling lines also run through the radiator...cheap design...if your transmission warms up, it can increase the engine temperature...Don't overfill your trans. You can blow seals and what not.

here is a pic of the old trans cooler i had and the new one...I ended up running two of them. Mainly because I rock crawl and have 36" tires.
