I had the same problem with my Audi a4 its an oil consumption problem well know by audi take it to the nearest Audi dealership repair shop right away because it is cause unnecessary wear and tear on your vehicle and next thing you know you're going to end up having major engine problems and its going to be a very costly repairand if you bought the car previously owned that person didn't pay attention to how much oil and so its like driving a car without changing the oil and they should be able to fix the problem for free through Audi tell them you want an oil consumption test done
I have the same problem. on 1.8T Audi A4 2009. Did the company should fix this serial issue for FREE ?
yes, they will fix it for free
They charged me with the labour costs (1000 euros). Not happy at all!
Hi mike, I have the same problem. 2009, A4 1.8T. Almost 1litre oil consumption @500-600 km. In our country dealer asked 3000 euro to fix problem. Is it possible to learn from your dealer what they did to fix problem?
Hi, they recognised the manufacturing default and changed the pistons. The cost was 3000 euros for the parts amd 1000 for labour. I paid only the labour.

I've got an a4 1.8T 160 And its drinking lots of oil and chucking out blue smoke. I've been told by audi dealership the Pistons and com rods have failed and it will cost £4.5k. They are waiting to hear back from audi HQ if they will contribute but as one of my services wasn't at a main dealer they may not. The car is only 5 years old with 70k. I've already had a failed turbo, fuel pump, fuel pump sensor and water pump all fail in the last 2 years since manufacturers warranty expired.
Got the same issue with my 2010 A4 estate 1.8 TFSI - drinking around 1l of oil every 300miles, no smoke tho. Booked visit in local Audi dealer for next Saturday. I'll let you know what is going on and what are the costs.

I'm having the same issue with a used car I bought 6 months ago. it's an A4 1.8 turbo. It's booked in for an oil consumption test next week, but after reading these posts, I'm really worried about the potential of a £4K bill.
Does the same oil consuming issue occurres in Audi A4t 2011 as well ?
Oil burning is present in an Audi A4 1.8 T 2012 S Tronic (DSG, that is dual shift gear). According to the manufacturer, burning oil is normal (because it has a turbo) and will depend on the driving conditions (how you drive and if you use the S mode will burn more), geography and temperature. My car (the one mentioned above) burnt almost one liter (a quart) of Castrol Edge 5W 30 in just 200 kilometers (in the S mode). I recently changed the oil (Motul 8100, 5 W30). I drove around 250 kilometers and apparently it burnt less oil. I have to wait more time in order to verify if changing the oil brand helps to reduce the problem.
High oil consumption on Audio A 1.8T. Took it to the Audi dealer in Springs SA. They topped up the oil and told me to return after 1000 km or when oil bar indicator is at lowest point whichever comes first. Upon return they checked and told me what I already knew. That oil consumption is high averaging around 1 litre per 500 km. They then gave me a written quotation amounting to R284k. My spark plugs are as dry as always and there's no oil leaks. The car has not lost any power. Performance is good but my tail pipe is pitch black. I doubt if these guys in Springs know what the problem is or they just don't give a darn. I have been driving the audi brand since 1990 and now my loyalty is divided.

Worn piston rings. Oil gets into your cylinders and gets burned with the fuel on ignition causing black/blue smoke to come out. Go to the dealer and tell them to replace your piston rings. While they are at it, tell them to check your timing chain as it gets worn after 100 000KM (60 000 Miles). Use fuel additives like injector cleaner to prolong the live of your injectors as well as they tend to clog up with the oil resin when your engine is off. Spark plugs too! Hope this helps. The dealer took you all for a ride!

Edit: Your injectors also clog up with resin in the fuel line but oil contaminates them. Check your worn rings and timing chain :)
I would like to buy Audi A4 1.8L 2013 for Mozambique but it is not safe because there is not have radiator and my country are very hot will this be true?
is that cover under mechanical warranty , please advise
YAALI I have noticed the same problem i bought my Audi A4 1.8 tfi from main dealer three months ago and its only done 14k miles on 2013 plate they have asked me to book the car for oil change service for free they will check after 600 miles,
I bought my 2010 Audi 1.8TFSI July 2018 with 82,000 miles on the clock and it has gone through 15 litre's of oil in 6 months, covering very little mileage. On the 1000 mile test it covered just 300.5 miles. The catalytic converter is also destroyed through the excessive burning and so won't pass the next MOT on emissions. The warranty company and Audi are wrangling over who should pay...
I just had this issue repaired for my daughters 2010 A4 2.0t. Bring it to an Audi dealer and tell them about your oil consumption. They will use a consumption test to confirm what we already know. (Process and procedure). Once confirmed they will fix for a discount. My estimate was $5k and I paid $630.00 as Audi acknowledged the issue. It was not free because the time to repair had expired. You most likely will pay something but not $5k.
Got the same issue with my 2011 A4 estate 1.8 TFSI - drinking around 1l of oil every 300miles, no smoke tho. Booked visit in local Audi dealer for next Saturday. I'll let you know what is going on and what are the costs.
Hi I have an Audi A4 1.8T B6 6speed. BEX engine, I took the block and the head to the engineering for pressure test and skimming, after the engine has been build, #3 cylinder is filing up with water, can someone help with what could be the problem
Even when my A4 was brand new, I noticed that only after a couple of months of driving it, i had to add oil. When I mentioned it to the dealer, he said that it wasn't "abnormal." I go thru a gallon of oil every 2 years... with me adding oil once a month or so.
