2008 ford ranger stuck in 4 low

i have a 2008 ford ranger auto transmission it was stuck in 4x4 hi and got it to
shift to 4 low but now it is stuck again

Slowly driving back and forth a few feet in a straight line while trying the shift can do it. Never drive on hard, dry surfaces in 4WD!
