My 1990 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 transmission slips and will not achieve passing gear. The problem is worse when cold. The fluid is fine. What can be wrong?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It has 190,000 miles and runs great aside from the transmission.  It was replaced 5 years ago with a re-built transmission.  I drive it normally about 60 miles a day.

Hi dm2736, The transmission is a very complex piece of machinery. This could be something as simple as adjusting the bands and/or linkage to something complicated like a full rebuild. I would take it into a shop that specializes in transmissions to have it diagnosed properly. Good luck!
