About a 1968 Cobra Gt 500

Question type: General

Recently I come across this car in a bar.  The older gentlemen wants to sell it
and he is the second owner.  He says it is a Shelby Cobra GT 500.  It has a
289 hypo in it.   I think the guy that sold it to him may have not told him the
right information.  I was able to find out that they did put in some 289's in
these during a UAW strike.  Were any of these hypos?  Is there a Shelby
Torino?  It has 289 emblems on the front fenders.  Was there many of these
289's used?  How many horsepower were they?  Is this a rare car?  It is a
very clean car and 4 speed.  What might it be worth?  Anything I should look
for in the vin numbers?  Appreciate any information.  Thank you.

Hello Tom, What can you tell me about the 1968 Torino? I do have the vin number now: 8A42Y253345. Unfortunately, I don't have a photo. Thank you, Jeff

I know this is old, but Shelby never did a Torino and the 289 was completely replaced by the 302 for the 68 model year. Based on the VIN that is a 68 Torino GT fastback and should have a dual 4 bbl 390.
