Why when I cut on the heat in my car I hear a clicking sound ?

something probably fell through from the outside vent intake (a leaf or piece of paper} It will eventually clear if that's what it is
Does the click either slow down or increase when you adjust the speed of the fan? Or does it click when you adjust the temp knob from cold to hot.
The noise speeding up or slowing down when the fan speed is increased or decreased indicates one of two things. The first is like tom said, something could have fallen into the vent hole and is striking the blade of the fan. The second is your fan is going out
On the 2003 model, probably similar to the 2004, the blower motor is located below glove box. You will have to remove the lower trim panel near the glove box to get to it. There is probably a vacuum tank there which will have to be removed to access the blower motor. There only three screws holding the motor in. Remove the motor from the housing, attach the electrical connections and turn on the fan. If it does not make noise when out check for debris or an obstruction striking the blades. The shalt could also be slightly bent causing it to strike the side of the housing.
Can the motor blades become bent? What are they usually made of. We have s 2006 Ford freestyle sel.
