2004 Ford Taurus won't start

Asked by Jen Apr 22, 2018 at 08:30 PM about the 2004 Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 ford taurus.  When I open the door no lights come on. When
turning the key nothing happens.

We have replaced the battery and had the starter checked, so we know
these are not problems.  We are not sure what is next to check and see what
could be wrong.

I would look into the starter solenoid. it has 3 lines going into it. it's and older car, the sole does not last forever! you grab one in a junk yard for a couple of bucks ( I do this all of the time in the junk yard). you would be AMAZED at how many brand new parts there are on a vehicle!! Secondly, I would definitely do some research on recalls of the key spindle, or get it replaced. But that is much more difficult to deal with. I would put that as a last resort idea.
