Why does the carburetor overflow?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 1961 Comet 232 with a holly carburetor. It runs fine but after a minute or two gasoline starts spilling out of the top of the float chamber. The float valve seems to be working in spec. Is there another possible cause for the overflow?

Have you upgraded your fuel pump? Might be more pressure than float valve can hold back. Also check seat where float valve closes and also tip of float valve. Just a small amount of trash or varnish on either could cause the same issue. Hope this helps.

Did not think of that. Float level is more likely the problem.
