Unless you have fuel injection, a remote starter won't work. They don't set the choke on a carburetor. The only exception is if you have a manual choke. It will start, BUT you will have to remember to set the choke when you shut the car off, AND you better be out there fast once it does start to lean it out or it will flood or damage the engine.
I have a '64 with an L6/200 Automatic, Manual Choke. I don't have any problems. I set the choke just so, and If I don't "run" out there whenever, I don't see any horrible issues, and I have never flooded for any reason, anytime, ever. As far as my engine is concerned, after all of the abuse I've given it... I've ran it under several abusive conditions... rebuilt and tested a pile of carbs on it over the past year or so... it's no worse for the wear... but that's MY engine... others may not have the same luck. If you have the Auto Choke, do as Mike says, and "remember to set the choke"... make a sticky note or something... Happy Holidays!
