What are my engine swap choices?

Asked by louiexiv Aug 16, 2020 at 07:13 PM about the 1965 Mercury Comet

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 65' comet and was wondering if I could put a larger I6 such as the 250
4.1?

The 250 is a stroked version of the 200 which was an optional engine in your car. I think it should bolt in.

That was the second generation that was still based on mustang which had the optional 260 v8 but currently has a 200 I6. The 250 I6 did not become available until the fourth generation but I think still uses the C4 trans

I believe the 200 6 also has the V8 bell house pattern. The 65 Comet also has the 260 V8.

I were not going with the original engine I personally would use a date correct 289/302 and dress it up to look like an original engine.
