measure the distance from the fender arch to the centre of the hub, and double the measurement and this will give you the largest diameter wheel, I would not attempt such a modification on an automobile of this age as you can de value it by taking it away from its originality.

first of all..look for a rim with the right amount of back space... CENTER THE RIM IN THE CENTER OF THE WHEEL WHELL..i dont know where you live but any good tire/rim store should help you out.

For those A-body fastbacks (Demon, Duster, Dart sport). The largest Diameter tire would be about 28 inches. Also pay attention to back space. On the rear of mine with 15x8's with 3.75 inch back space. I've fit 245/60R15 (26.5 inch tall X 9.5 wide) just fine. I've fit 255/60R15 (27 inch tall X 10 inch wide) just fine Tried 275/60R15 (28 inch tall X 11 inch wide) was a no-go. I think if I had 4 inch backspace I might be able to squeeze the 275/60's The picture is with 255/60r15's.
