2003 escape I have a whining noise about once a week it lasts about 10 seconds and it goes away i cant tell if it is coming from the transmission or some other motor or fan that is causing it

This is something i would not be to concerned with,with winter being here,altho I dont know where u live,if in a cold climate,it could be power steering pump whine,check ps fluid & the fluid in the rack & pinion is cold and will make it wine.
