I HAVE A 1987 TOYOTA P/UP 3.0 V6. NEEDING TO KNOW IF I NEED THE ECU FOR THE REPLACEMENT MOTOR OR CAN I USE THE ONE THAT CAME WITH THE TRUCK?

It depends on the replacement motor. If it's out of the same year and model it should be compatible with your original equipment. If it's not there could be a conclict. Like if you go from a 90 to an 87 e.g. You can always check the serial #s on both devices. If they are different I'd not take a chance. Also the CPU may not be compatible with your ignition system as well. Vehicles are designed as a package. some things like batteries are generic. But intergral components may be vehcile specific and non-transferable. It' s not like the old days when you could put a Chevy motor in an Oldsmobile. Happy Motoring!

IT CAME OUT OF A 97 AND PUTTING IN AN 89 BUT THE MOTOR LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME.
