what kind of problems will I have if my oil was overfilled by 3 quarts and ran that way

Too much oil will cause the crankshaft to dip in to the oil in the pan and whip it in to a foam like a blender - causing no oil pressure, the oil is not picked up by the oil pump. The PCV system is overwhelmed and oil is being sucked up in to intake, and will clog everything .. including injectors. The excess oil must be drained immediately and maybe, just maybe, will be fine

Get the extra oil out of the engine ASAP.

The bottom of the pistons will slam into the top of the oil and depending on how cold (THICK) how high the level is could do serious damage
