bend valves?

Would the motor be damaged if the timing chain
broke om a 2008 Mazda6 2.3 vvti?

It is very, very possible that this could happen. When the chain breaks, it is spinning at a very quick speed and will fly all around the engine bay, smacking anything in its path. Engine valves are in the line of fire, so they can indeed be bent.
