Automatic transmission fault

Asked by GuruVLX7R Aug 21, 2018 at 03:22 PM about the 2008 Jaguar X-TYPE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

If acceleration is too severe the warning light says GEAR BOX FAULT. The car
looses power and will not change gear.
Stopping the car and switching off the ignition and then on again. Every thing
is fine for weeks but still reoccurs occasional if accelerating is to sever.
Any ideas local garage unable to identify.
Mank thanks would love to hear if anyone is or has experienced this.
Car is 2008 Xtype estate 2.2

I have 2002 X TYPE AND “transmission fault light comes on! When you push the gas pedal, it will run but also you will feel like it’s jumping... felt like is not taking gas or something? Is the Throttle?

Any body think that it might be the electronic shifter assembly? I have a Benz that did the same exact thing and it was the shifter.

And i actually have a 2004 Xtype having the same issue now.If i disconnect the negative battery cable for a few minutes it clears the bash light an it shifts correctly. But the next time i start it up it has the same old problem.
