Turn signal malfunction: 1963 Falcon Convertible

Asked by daverosy Aug 21, 2010 at 06:03 PM about the 1963 Ford Falcon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My right turn signal slowly stopped working. Over the course of a few days of
driving, it got slower and slower to the point where it stopped working. Most likely
not a bulb issue...

Got info??? Help!

You didn"t say-if the left-turn was affected,So I"m assuming,it still works..I suspect-The switch contacts(behind the steering-wheel) to be dirty,or defective..Pull your steering wheel,spray switch with contact-cleaner(available at radio-shack)and jiggle the handle,to see if it starts working. Advance,O"reilleys,or auto zone-among many other parts-stores,sell a switch repair kit,easy ro install...

Check your fan belt, if it's loose the generator will not put out a full charge and the battery will gradually lose voltage. Belt should only deflect about 1/4 inch when pushed, don't overtighten.
