2003 v6 mustang

My 2003 v6 mustang has 143,000 miles on
it and there is a ticking noise coming from
around the alternator area,but when the
serpentine belt is off the noise goes
away,done changed the belt and power
steering pump.could it be the alternator?

It may be, take the belt off and spin it. Then try and see if you feel anything that is not smooth when spinning the alternator. Check all idler pulleys as they go bad along with the belt tensioner. Spin and check the idler pulleys, there should be no play and spin smooth.
