I have a 1968 Ford F100 with a 360 and 3 on the tree (no O/D). What should my top speed be? It seems like the engine works really hard at about 50-55mph.

It all depends upon your gear ratio. If you have something like a 4.56, your top speed won't be very high but you could pull down a mountain with it. If you had a 2.72, you could go well over 100 but couldn't tow much. Most trucks have a ratio between 3.50 and 4.10. 100 mph is about right.
