Car stops after running about ten minutes.

Asked by TR6fan Aug 03, 2014 at 06:36 PM about the 1971 Triumph TR6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Triumph starts okay but after driving about ten minutes acts like it is out of gas &
stalls.  It will not re-start unless it sits for some length of time.  It sat without being driven
for about six months until recently.  Old gas was drained out & the car has fresh gas in it.
Any ideas on the cause will be much-appreciated.

Sounds like coil might be getting hot and shutting down. When it happens check for spark to plugs? Or possibly points/con issue.
