Will the 302 engine from a 1983 mercury marquis fit a 1991 f 150 ford truck

Asked by fordtime Jan 28, 2014 at 12:04 AM about the 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1983 mercury marquis with a 302 carburetor engine. I would like to swap this engine in a 1991 f 150 ford truck that has a 302 with fuel injection. Can this be done? If so, what would be involved?  Can a "do it yourself person" with little auto mechanic skills do this?

My first question is why sacrifice the 83 Grand Marquis? They are great cars. If you go ahead with it you will need an adapter to mate the old engine to the newer AOD transmission. Not hard to get. You will find that the carbureted engine gets better mileage than the fuel injected one.
