Depends on your location and availability of parts. In the US not many were imported so buying or finding part may be expensive and or challenging to say the least. I had a 95 164LS that way in great shape but the starter was due for replacement soon. I thought a simple replacement, but due to the FWD and location you practically have to remove the engine to get access to it. Needless to say I traded it for another ride, I didn't want the headache. Besides, when finding a new starter the prices were ridiculously over cost. So I'd have to refurbish it myself. Great car, but BMWs are Mercs are so much easier to deal. ;)
