My good won't close

1997 civic coupe.
I pulled the lever to open the hood.
The levers handle broke off. I then
used pliers to get it open and now
the hood will not close.

You will have to go to the latch on the hood and push it back together where the cable is. It should latch then.

Thank u @tuff4x4 I'm pretty sure the cable is either frozen and or severely rusted. The lever actually broke off a months ago just after I had my last oil change.. I just opened it the other day with pliers (pulled too hard) bc I had to refill the washer fluid.. Which is when I realized it wouldn't properly close. It's -20 something out so I think it's rusty from not being used for so long as well as probably frozen..
