starter will not turn over, no clicking either

Have someone tap on starter with a hammer and someone else try starting vehicle at the same time if it starts replace starter. Sometimes this works and sometimes not and if it does not start it can still can be a bad starter.

It could be a bad battery have you tried jumping it? Batteries tend to last 3 to 5 years depending on climate.
