2004 300M 3.5 liter How do I align the camshaft marks and the crankshaft at TDC?

Asked by mobest Mar 03, 2012 at 05:59 PM about the 2004 Chrysler 300M

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2004 300M 3.5 liter  I replaced the timing belt but after rotating the engine 2 times the camshaft marks do not line up when the crankshaft is at TDC.  I Gently tried to rotate camshafts back to marks but feel springs tighten and pressure so I stopped not wanting to break anything.
I did not have the cam sprockets off.
How do I align the cam sprockets and Crankshaft at TDC???

My best advice would be to get yourself a Haynes manual for your particular vehicle. The books are about $28 and are written well. If you are not able to locate one I can post the procedure on here or email you the procedure with pics. I would also point out that it is good practice to change tensioner and water pump while doing this procedure. Just let me know which way works better for you...
