I need help setting the timing, adjusting the rocker arms and setting them they are hydraulic and I have a question about what the metal shavings could be from that where by the rockers the right head
Reason for work: knocking on the right
side top end facing the motor.
what I did: I took off the valve cover on the
right side and noticed there was some big
thin metal shavings by the rocker arms.
but initially I thought the rockers were bad
until i saw the shavings so I removed the
rockers just on that side then I removed
the belt covers and belts but not the
timing belt. I used a harmonic balancer to
pull off the crank pulley then I realized I
forgot to check to see if the timing was on
and this is what i found.
*so starting with the TDC mark which is
aligned I noticed that both the camshaft
marks were both pointed towards the oil
pan / bottom of the motor so obviously
the timing is off.
* I also noticed that on the camshaft
where the lobes are there is extensive
ware on two of the lobes one is on the toe
end and the other is on the heal end but
the others have normal ware.
So what my question is how do I fix all
this, and where do I start first?
