Can overheating cause a timing issue? I have a 99 chrysler 300 m?Update : I was driving on the freeway and the temp gauge hit the red so I pulled over. I let it cool and put as much water as I could considering there is a bleeder screw at the top of the block and I had no tools. I started it and drove a mile or two and the gauge hit the red again so I pulled over again. I let it cool again and put a little more water. When i tried to start it it back fired and would not start to I had it towed home.Update 2: I drained the water and cleaned the spark plugs and tried to start it but it backfired again and then just kept turning by the starter. If it was the head gasket it should start right?
