Exhaust sensors

Asked by PaulCamel May 31, 2013 at 09:32 AM about the 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My PT Cruiser uses a lot of petrol. They say my sensors on the exhaust are dirty. Where
are these sensors, how do I remove them and how do I clean them?

To my knowledge oxygen sensors are working or not. I've never had to clean any personally. If they haven't been changed and are 10 yrs old now it would not be wasting your money to change them. To know if they are good or bad you need an engine scanner to watch them fluctuate. Good luck, J

With an 02 sensor socket better to replace them clean the plugs with electrical cleaner the I found the engine light to keep coming on after I replaced them. So I did this. Cleared codes Sorry I forgot something my PT cruiser 2005 what worked for me I took the gas cap off replaced the fuel.pump relay and the ASD relay and it started had to drive it about 70 miles for the light to stay off after all was cleared this works for new 02 sensors as well to get the light to stay off. Pay it forward please Chrysler won't tell you this they point you to PCU... in some cases it may be PCU but not all I find it hard to believe. Hope it works!
