I have a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant.

Asked by drbarron Oct 30, 2014 at 05:08 PM about the 2009 Mitsubishi Galant

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The display for the Time, Radio Station and CD are not displaying.  I have looked at all the fuses inside the car and they are all working.  Any ideas?  Thanks for the help,  Jason.

If you just got a new key cut or slightly bent the key, the ignition switch may be staying in start position, and not going back to run. The galant has some wizardry that prevents you, or it, from "grinding the starter" against the flywheel once the car is running, so you can't tell by that. Try turning the key a LITTLE way toward "off" and thus into the run position. This is supposed to be spring loaded, but on an '09 you may need to help it. Don't try this while moving, if you turn the key back too far, turning off all the power assists and potentially locking the steering column, is not the fun kind of exciting.

I know this thread is old but here's my opinion in the event someone else has the same problem. If the battery cable has been off or it needed a jump then there is a code that needs to be entered to get the stereo and clock working again. Mine is a four digit code and I click the #1 station button to the first number then the #2 station button to the second number and etc.. Then I press the cd button and my radio and clock work again. If anyone buys a used Mitsubishi then they should get the code from the previous owner.
