1997 sebring tranny

Asked by Rodney Apr 29, 2009 at 01:56 PM about the 1997 Chrysler Sebring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This is a sporadic problem but seems to be coming more frequently. Service engine light is on, local shop scanner cannot read the code.

Symptoms: When driving at 60-70 mph, engine rpms go from around 2000rpm to 3000rpm, oil pressure guage drops slightly, feels like it is losing power. I can stop the car, turn off the motor, retart then it runs fine until the problem represents itself. What can the problem be?

start saving money or get rid of it before it gets worse.. thats how mine started out and slowly graduated to where it would lock into limp mode(not shift out of 2nd gear) i hd to replace the transmission and that costed me $1800.... but if you replace the transmission make sure you have a warranty on it... a month after i put the new one in the trans computer died and it tore up my transmission..... thankfully i got warranty.....
