you have some serious problems here, sounds like it is time to get rid of it,it will cost more to fix it than it is worth.
I know this is a late response but just in case others experience the same problem... You simply need to replace the fuse in the inside fuse box that blew on you. I don't remember which one it is so you will need to check them all. However, I do believe it is located in the middle row about half way or more from the bottom. I replaced the blown fuse on mine and everything worked again! I should mention that I think this is caused by an intermittant short in your steering column wiring. My cluster has now gone dead and it is no longer a fuse problem so I am getting ready to tear into it and find the bare wire. Good Luck

I agree with pk. it sounds like a fuse to me. the shifter lockout and brake lights run off the same circuit. no brake lights no shifter movement. do not overlook the cig. lighter they are notorious for shorting out and popping the fuse which sometimes is tied in with the dash lights.
It's the 5amp fuse on the 15# i just fixed something similar
5amp #15 fuse fixed mine too
I'm experiencing the same thing where abouts did you track your wiring problem from I blew a 5 amp replaced it and it blew again and now it's smoking

#15 5amp was blown on mine too, switched it out and it worked right away..the steering column finally unlocked and the power windows work. Whew.
