I have to wait for the oil gauge to come up before I can drive the car WHY does it do that?

How long do you have to wait? It shouldn't be more than a second. The oil filter has a valve in it to keep oil from draining back into the pan. You may be waiting for the oil filter to refill. Try a new filter.

if it takes awhile to go to normal i had this same problem and the fixes is a new oil pressure sending unit

the switch it on the drivers behind the fender liner remove the left front wheel for easier access and remove the inner fender

Hi, Just wondering if you got the Oil pressure deal fixed? my brothers has smae problem with his 2001 explorer, did u fix it? Thanks
