'06 charger 5.7 or 3.5

Question type: Shopping & Pricing
I need to get a new car, I would love to get a Charger. I'm looking at two of them.....unfortunately I was jsut divorced and lost my ass. So I don't have a lot of money to spend on one. The '06 5.7 I'm looking at has 80,000 miles and they're asking $13,400 for it. The '06 3.5 has 67,000 miles and they're asking $11,999. The 5.7 is still way under book, according to KBB and NADA, if I can swing the 5.7 at that price am I getting taken? Or should I just look at the 3.5? They'll come down in price on that one for sure.
thanks

5.7L. the 3.5 and 2.7 are notorious for problems. the 5.7L is rock solid though. the 06 for $13.4k is a pretty good deal. i have an 05 300C with 115k now and im asking $11k. fyi, the 300 is slightly quicker(because its lighter) and has a more luxurious interior just in case you werent set on the charger.
5.7, hands down. I have a '06 Charger R/T (with Road & Track) and its the best purchase I've ever made. You should have MDS in the '06, so gas mileage should be decent for a big V8. And you will NOT be disappointed in power with the 5.7...but with the others you will be. These cars are too big and heavy to be pulled around by V6's. Yes, the High Output 3.5 gets the job done, but slowly. Anyway, I think that is a great price, if there is nothing wrong with the car aside from miles. I paid a lot more for mine only a year ago, lol. You MUST get a Carfax report, and look the thinng over carefully, preferably with a mechanic friend. Thats just plain wisdom for any used car purchase. Good luck! PS: About the 300 being faster than the Charger...I hate to cause contention with a Mopar brother, but thats a crock of shit, especially for a '05. The cars are usually dead even in a race (if both are un-modded), and the Charger (especially the higher horsepower Road & Track) usually has any edge there could possibly be. The approximate weight of a '05 300C is 4,046lbs. '06 Charger R/T is 4788lbs (which is actually higher than the originally suggested 3995lbs). On a track that is a huge difference...on the street its not. It will be a drivers race, and one that should never happen anyway if you are smart.
thats why i said slightly quicker. the charger is heavier but the drivetrain is basically identical. i mean 700 lbs in weight adds up. i like both cars but the 300C has a slight advantage in year for year comparisons. and the SRT versions of each ive read in multiple reviews the 300C to be faster than the charger. just what ive seen. i havent had the chance to drive the charger though. but im sure my butt dyno wouldnt be able to tell a difference either.
I'm both agreeing and disagreeing with you, lol. I've driven both Chargers and 300's of various years and trim levels (love the SRT in both! *envy*) but I honestly haven't found a noticeable difference in speed via the butt dyno, lol. The Charger feels more aggressive, and the 300 feels like its more luxurious. While I like the look of the Charger more because I'm more into muscle cars, I also love the 300. Its a very clean ride with a very high pimp factor as well as power. In a perfect world I would own both, as well as a Chally and a winter Ram :D
lol dido. i would lvoe to own both in srt trim. and the new ram too. BUT i cant say i would want a new challenger. id probably have to go with a new camaro instead. although i do love the challenger
I'd only want a Challenger to keep in my stable, not drive, lol. I don't care for them much, but they may be valuable some day, especially if things keep tanking the way they are. Don't care for the new Camaro either, to be honest. Maybe they'll grow on me, but in the end I'm a Mopar guy.
haha yeah i like the new camaros because of the performance for the cost. they are insane for $30k
I own the 06 Charger Daytona. Trust me, look around for a 5.7 with less miles at a better price! I also work at the largest auto auction around and see what they are going for. You can do much better! I may want to sell mine to get the new Camaro. She's #1739, in mint shape with 19k miles. I love it! That new Camaro though....! The sticker price is $37,000.
