Unplugging the transfer case motor actuator

Jack up the vehicle with all 4 wheels off the ground and make secure, start the engine and shift the transfer case into AWD mode and put it in gear and release the brakes and then let it idle, if everything is working properly all four wheels should be turning at roughly the same speed as none will have traction.
Okay so It doesn't go into gear. After researching for days, i'm sure that it is the actuator but I was hoping that unplugging It And going without fourwheel drive For now might solve the problem without having to replace the motor.
On most transfer cases you can remove the shift motor and manually turn the pawl into 2WD then just duck tape the opening up. But transfer cases rarely go into neutral on their own, if it’s not going into gear then it maybe a shattered transfer case or the transmission has went bye bye.
Right. It was doing the things others were saying was the trans motor actuator, but I'm skeptical. I guess we will start with that. My daughters husband crawled under it and said the flywheel was spinning, not engaged? Thank you for answering. It's been sitting for over a month so I guess I will get under there and unplug it and see what happens if not remove it and manually put in 2 Wd like you said.
