Why does my AC make a loud sound when it turns on? Is that a sign of the pump going out? It also seems like it won't activate until I'm going at a higher speed.

Take the car in and have your refrigerant checked for the proper amount and pressures. Clean the condenser in the front of the car with a good penetrating cleaner..
