04 Dodge Neon overheating problem.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My neon has overheated a couple times, I
thought it might be thermostat but fluid
isn't leaking while car runs. But a short time
after driving and turning off car it leaks but I
haven't caught it in time to see where from.
I'm waiting again now. Any advice on
wether it would be thermostat or water
pump? Before I start replacing parts.

Are your cooling fans coming on when the car reaches temp, thats could cause overheating. If the car is up to temp and hose that is going to the thermostat is really hard that could mean the thermostat is not opening up letting fluid to the engine .If it's the pump there is a weep hole near it and fuild will drip out of there.
Fans do come on when at temp. Temp gauge was a bit high while idle. Gave it gas and temp dropped and heater went cold. See nothing leaking while running
Sounds like the the thermostat, is that hose hose going to the thermostat on the hard side?
If its soft and the car is up to temp then the thermostat is open letting water thru. the next in line would be the water pump.
My hose is hard and I just changed thermostat
I'm having a similar issue my Neon is running hot when I turn it on. Now I got this car in a trade and the fan is hard wired to the battery and it runs hot even with the fan on. I changed the thermostat and the coolant reservoir and the water bubbles in the reservoir please help
Bubbles in the tank a bad sign of a head gasket david
Hello my name is Debra I have a 1996 dodge neon It keeps running hot . The Gage's qas saying it's hot but then I get out open up the hood and it's not hot not the Gage's aren't working and it's really running hot and spitting out antifreeze over heating. I changed the thermostat and I put antifreeze back in it seemed to be working fine but by the time I got home it over heated again what's the problem ? Now my mecanic ask me if the fans were working how do you know if the fans are working unless you get out and see them running or do they come on after the car is off or can you hear them running while you are driving

So I have a 97 Dodge neon and Everytime I turn on the A/C my temperature gauge goes to H. What does it mean? And what can I do to fix it?
Okay so i have a 2004 dodge neon it was running hot i got the head taken off and resurfaced and cleaned changed the water pump timing belt and tensioner put and of course bought the head gasket kit to change to change all the gaskets and its still running hot the only thing that wasnt changed was the radiator thermostat was changed and so was the radiator cap and all sensors was changed no check engine is on and the radiator isnt leaking but when i filled it up after putting the engine back together there was rust coming out with the water could it be stopped up literally tired of putting money into the car
