Overheating

Asked by Thunder0 Aug 14, 2017 at 05:37 PM about the 2001 Ford Mustang

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2001Mustang starts overheating when im
driving for about 7 minutes the A/C turns humid
then when i put the heater on it comes out kinda
warm even if its on full blast and then later gets
super hot the radiator hose that goes to the engine
stays bloated and hot like the water isnt going
through the thermostat, i already switched the
heater pipe cause it had a leak, bought a new
radiator cap and replaced the thermostat like 3
times in less than a week. Also i already cleaned
and flushed the radiator. And the problem still
persists. Any ideas of what it could be? Please i
need help

Check to see if cooling fan is turning on, if it is then you need to check cooling flow. It may sound silly but double check make sure thermostat is installed correctly. If everything looks ok but no flow, u might have corrosion build up inside the engine

IROD: tell them the 2 ways you can install a thermostat incorrectly. They may not know.

Make sure all the air is out of the system. Some vehicles have self bleeding systems and some have a bleeder screw that takes time and patients to get air out.

Pressure test system to see if you have any leaks internally or externally. All it takes is a pin hole or a soft connection to ooze.

You can test the fans by directly connecting these to the battery via 2 leads. No particular polarity as they are DC motors and will run either way. You may also test temperature sensor
