Which K&N Filter type is best for a 350 5.7L engine?

Asked by phillie23 May 07, 2014 at 11:31 AM about the 1988 Chevrolet C/K 1500

Question type: Car Customization

I am about to buy a K&N setup for My truck. It has a 350 5.7L V8. I currently have the
round type air filter on it. I would like someone to help me weigh the pro's n cons of the
following 2 styles of K&N filters. I can't decide which one I want to put on the truck. are
there advantages/disadvantages to either or both? Does one sound better than the
other? does one perform better? You get the idea. the model numbers are 57-3026 (The
cone filter) and 63-1007-1 (Round filter). PLEASE HELP ME DECIDE!

the heat shield on the setup with the cone filter will help keep hot engine compartment air away from the filter. the round one will take in whatever air is around it. both will flow more air than stock. colder air=more power.

I'm not going to sugar coat it. Unless you have some serious mods done to the engine your wasting money on a cold air kit. The TBI engine wasnt a power house, the factory setup can outflow the engine easily. If you just want K&N go for the round filter.
