You will probably need to change the frame motor mounts as they are usually taller & further forward on a big block to allow clearances from the firewall & cross member. Other than that, it should go right in.
you will also need to add heavier front end parts (springs, etc.) to hold up to the extra weight or your wheels will end up bowing out to the sides.
if it is a 6lug wheel NO if it is an 8 lug Yes if its a 700R4 trans, maybe Yes I know they made a 1500SS with a 454 It is heavily modified to take the extra power and weight from a standard 1500
No, Big block chevy's and small block chevy's transmissions have different bolt patterns for the bell housing.
all chevy V8 s have same bell housing bolt pattern
Thats for pointimg that out. After i posted that it didnt feel right. There was a problem tho. Something with the flywheel size cause it was balanced with it. But this was an older motor so it may be different with a newer one.
mt monarch has it straight, in fact, the 350 and 400 turbo trans will bolt all the the way from a 250 in line 6 to the 454. as far as the fly wheel, its balanced to the engine, thats why unless it damaged you dont replace them when you replace a tranny. Just run the flywheel that goes with the engine you change to.
Can I pull out of 350 and bolt in a 454 in a 1975 Chevy truck

big block chev's use a different bell housing then the small block but yes all chev 6 and small blocks use the same bell housing, and all the big blocks use the same bell housing,, but small and big blocks are not interchangeable,, as for your front end, if its a stock 454, it will handle the the weight , theres no change over.. if you wanna do it up,, then your gonna need some frame work at the min

Except for a 1960-62 235 apache 10. It is different tigoda answered 2 years ago big block chev's use a different bell housing then the small block but yes all chev 6 and small blocks use the same bell housing, and all the big blocks use the same bell housing,, but small and big blocks are not interchangeable,, as for your front end, if its a stock 454, it will handle the the weight , theres no change over.. if you wanna do it up,, then your gonna need some frame work at the min
I swapped a 454 in place of a 283 on my 1964 Chevele malibu . Other than a little stiffer springs it was perfect . So, I guess all your trucks should be OK . And if you use alum heads and intake, you are only adding about 150 lbs . Nobody worries about a snow plow !
A 5 lug standard brake 1500 will be just fine , all Chevy's from a straight 6- 4.3 V6 including all small and big block are the same ! All manual shifts will work even a 2.2 S-10 trans ( use Camaro V8 Bell housing) . The only exception is a 2.8 V6 it shares a 3800 Buick and Cadillac bolt pattern , LS type engines even use the same bolt pattern they have to use a specific flywheel The big block will be fine with any GM transmission unless you are going drag racing or driving rough, no frame mods are necessary just motor mounts and stands... and a big block radiator, good luck
