Well it sounds like a fuel issue, make sure the fuel pump electrical connections are in good shape, you should hear the fuel pump run (prime up) for a bit before it shuts off when turning the key to just on. Fuel pressure should be 9 to 13 lbs. 11 to 12 optimum, otherwise I have run into a bad coil & wire on these.
i have replaced the fuel pump didnt help. and i hear it prime up. would a bad coil or wire work then not then work again ? it does this from a cold position and while driving warmed up. could it be the ignition switch ?
I did mention the coil & wire, & I have run into this before. Yes this could be a cause. I know you replaced the fuel pump & filter, as I needed to know if you knew the pump was running, because the electrical connectors have problems with time. No I don't think it would be the ignition switch. I still not ruling out a fuel issue, as a bad regulator also could be the culprit. Fuel pump is ruled out since it is new, but I would like to know what the fuel pressure is. Unless you get a different coil & wire to try. The spring in the regulator that is in the TBI gets weak, and they make a rebuild kit for these. Let me know what you find, :)
