04 neon will not go into high gear

04 neon won't go into high gear. changed transmission fluid.  (it tried to change after fluid was changed)  
gas cap looks ok.  112,000 miles....never changed timing belt.  light on code 441 and 440.  auto zone  
said I needed a transmission control solenoid the one they have plugs into the electrical harness for a
proper fit, they say.  should I buy a new gas cap first, then check fuses ?

read your other post more than likely its a solenoid gon bad and maybe your cas cap is defective

If you have only changed the transmission fluid once in 112,000 miles, there may be an internal problem with the transmission. You can try changing the solenoids, but like I said in my other post, a transmission shop will probably give you a better idea as to what is going on with the shifting. As a side note, not changing the timing belt should not cause a problem with the transmission... Considering the belt should have been changed around 60,000 miles, you may want to consider getting that changed (along with the water pump) as soon as you can. The 2.0L in the Neons is an interference engine. If that belt breaks, you may as well replace the engine rather than re-biuld it.
