Car won't reverse!!!

So, A mechanic fixed my front and rear brakes. When I
got my car back in less than an hour my car overheated,
wouldn't go into park, and the reverse was going forward.
Pretty much my car wouldn't park it was just rolling even
after the car was turned off and the emergency brakes
weren't working. I tried to start the car and it wouldn't
start.
The first thing I did was when the car cooled down was
put coolant in it. My car started but the rest of the issues
were still happening. Couldn't reverse, car was still rolling
when in park.
What could the possible issue be?

Sounds like the shift linkage/cable has slipped. Need to look under the car by the transmission and check the linkage.
