Dodge neon 04 problems

Asked by Skye Aug 03, 2017 at 03:17 PM about the 2004 Dodge Neon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

As I'm driving my car the harder I push on the gas
pedal the more it starts to cut out as it's gaining
speed. It didn't seem to be anything bad until I was
driving down the road & it just died while I was in
the middle of driving without making any sounds or
anything. It started up a few minutes later, I made it
home, shut off the car & now it won't turn back on
but it is trying to. What could be wrong with it? I
changed the spark plugs two months ago but
something might be biting them out too fast I just
don't know what could do that'd

How long since an over-all tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? A problem at higher rpms, you check for a blockage of some kind, I'd use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, also, check that the exhaust isn't clogged. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the spark plugs, If spark everywhere, like I already stated, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse, if your missing all three, check the cam and crank sensors signals. I'm not telling you to replace anything, but, you need to do some testing.

Just to add, you need to make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good.
