Frustrated! Please HELP!!

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1979 Chevy Silverado pickup
truck. I got ahold of bad gas so I
dropped the tank and drained out all
the bad gas.. still nothing! So I
changed my fuel filter and it turns
over and as long as I putting gas in
the carburetor, but will not stay crunk
or crank! Please if anyone has
anything else I could try please let me
know!! Need to have fixed ASAP

Could be fuel pump, pull hose going to carb and turn over to see if fuel comes out. If you are getting fuel, check to make sure you are getting "fire" at your plugs and wires. Being a '79, it should be very basic. Also since you drained Tank, was the screen damaged on sending unit/ pick up tube, it could have picked up debris. Confirm all line clamps are tight. Check the basics on fuel and fire. Good luck.

I just had the same problem my fuel line wasn’t connected to my fuel pump also the choke could be off. Tell him to stick a screw driver in the first set of wings on his carb to hold it open alittle bit and turn it over to see if it starts. If it does the choke will need adjusted
