no power to hazard flasher on fuse panel underdash, key on, hazard switch on or off

Asked by mrgoodtool Jul 20, 2018 at 01:24 PM about the 1975 Chevrolet C/K 20

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had an emergency and when I activated my hazard switch, by pulling it out,
nothing happend. I checked the fuse panel prongs (two) where the hazard
flasher plugged in, and no power. I turned on the ignition and tested
again...nothing. I re tested the fuse panel prongs with the hazard switch in
both on, and off positions, ignition on and off.....no power. What's next?
How do I check the steering column hazard switch itself?

After a thoro review of a chevrolet vacuum-wiring diagram book, I found out that the relay is protected by a 20a fuse in the same underdash fuse panel. removing the fuse, i discovered it's blown......Geeze! something so simple....anyway, not knowing what blew the fuse, I went ahead and replaced the "EL-12" hazard flasher module as well....the hazard flashers are now operational again!! End of problem!
