I recently had my power steering pump replaced and was told it would make a squeaking noise when I turn until it is broken in. Is this true?

Also, there is a rubbing sound in the steering column when I turn, like the sound of rubber.  Does something need lubricated in the column?  Are these 2 issues related?

Hi vernon2112, I believe the issues you're having are related. The rubbing sound they are referring to should only be heard when the steering wheel is turned all the way to the left or right. If it's making sounds short of its max turning radius I would take it back and complain. Good luck!
